Robert "Bob" A. Tschannen, age 99 (13 days shy of 100) of Brecksville, Ohio passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Ann (nee Uhlir) of 66 years and his parents Bruno and Ida; sisters, Susie, Grace, Flora, Louise and brothers, Roy, Bruno, Kenneth and Ted. He is survived by his children; Robert K. Tschannen-Moran (Megan) and Laurel Mayeux (Philip); grandchildren; Dr. Bryn Rodriguez (Andres), Evan Tschannen (Michelle), Breanne Bowers, Allison Bowers, Rebekah Flerchinger (Matthew) and Britney Bowers; great grandchildren Everest, Amaya, Aliana, Ayodele, Marcelo, Juno, Greysen; and brother James Tschannen.
Bob Graduated from Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, MO in 1940 and received his B.S. in 1950 and Master's degree in 1957 from CWRU. Bob was a veteran of WWII serving as a navigator in the 6th Combat Cargo Squadron from 1943-1946. Bob was Second Lieutenant in the South Pacific receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Victory Ribbon. A quote from Bob about his squadron: "An Interesting 6th CC Sqdn Expericence-some flights were pretty exciting. One Navy Ship opened fire on us coming into the Philippines, but MISSED!!" Bob served as Senior Vice President at the Sherwin Williams Company in Cleveland, Ohio, retiring after 38 1/2 years of service on January 31, 1998.
As an active member of the Brecksville community, he was a member of the Brecksville United Methodist Church, member of the BBH School Board, delivered Meals On Wheels for over 20 years to the Brecksville Community. During the last 8 years, Bob enjoyed being a resident of the Laurel Lake Community in Hudson, Ohio and wintering in Florida and Virginia.
Bob had a very full and rewarding life. He and June were world travelers, supporters of the Cleveland Arts Community, enjoying the Cleveland Orchestra, Great Lakes Theatre and Cleveland Playhouse. Bob was an active athlete enjoying years of tennis and golf. Most of all Bob was a devoted and loving family man who cherished life and those around him
Bob's funeral service will be held Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Brecksville United Methodist Church, 65 Public Square, Brecksville, OH 44141 (Entrance off of Stadium Drive only). Interment at Highland Park Cemetery on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 11:00 am (please meet at cemetery, Northfield Road entrance).
