Robert L. Kubicek

Robert Kubicek, formerly of Brecksville, died May 1 after a short illness. Married for 74 years to his beloved wife, Carol (Gremb) Kubicek, who survives him. Also survived by children Kathleen Tuthill (Richard), Beth Hughes (Brian), and Barbara Tansel (Grant); and grandchildren Brad Hughes (Stacy, Lily and Brady); Sarah Stocks (Christie, Lane and Logan); Courtney Hughes (Peyton); Travis Tansel (Kara, Avery and Remy); Robert Tansel; Lindsay McAndrew (Brian, Finley). Bob was a Navy veteran of WWII. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Brecksville High School, where he lettered in all four sports and was president of Student Council. He served Brecksville as a councilman for many years, and later as mayor. Bob and Carol knew each other since junior high school, lived most of their lives in Brecksville, and enjoyed many years on the beach in Redington Shores, FL with their kids and grandkids. A memorial service will be held at Nosek-McCreery Funeral Home, 8150 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, OH 44141 on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 1:30 pm followed by an hour of gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the USO, where Bob and Carol volunteered, at Cleveland Airport USO, 5300 Riverside Drive, CLeveland, OH 44135 or Ohio.uso.org.
