Patrick Leo McRoberts passed away November 5, 2022. His wife, Julia (Boice) McRoberts preceded him in death on September 28, 2005. Patrick was born November 10, 1935, in Canton, Ohio to Lena Irene McRoberts and had a loving brother Thomas McRoberts (deceased). Patrick was the caring father of three daughters, Kelly McRoberts Viseur (Doug), Kathryne McRoberts Gorby (Chris), and Erin McRoberts West. He was the grandfather of seven grandchildren, Joseph Viseur (wife Laine), Miles Viseur (wife Nicole), Samuel Viseur, Julia Comodeca Ryan (husband Logan), James Comodeca, Ethan West, and Trevor West. Patrick is survived by his loving significant other, Linda Eckenbrecht. He was a dear cousin of Sally Schweitzer. Patrick had a long, healthy life, yet fought liver cancer the last two years.
Patrick enjoyed a long career as a food technologist which began during his college days at Kent State University, where he received a degree in Biology. He worked in frozen food research and development for Borden, Inc. in Syracuse, NY and also Columbus, OH. He was proud of earning a United States Patent from his research with Borden. He also worked in developing new products for Stouffer Foods in Cleveland, OH. He switched careers to be a sales representative serving the food industry with MK-Ferguson Engineering Company, Cleveland, and ultimately retired from that firm.
Patrick loved and performed music his entire life. He formed a quartet called, The Talismen, at Canton Lincoln High School, '53, where all four singers wore a powder blue tuxedo jacket! He shared his beautiful tenor voice by being the cantor at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Brecksville, singing in the Brecksville Community Chorus, and singing at numerous weddings, including all three of his daughters' weddings and two of his grandchildren's. He especially loved to sing, The Lord's Prayer.
Patrick's faith was paramount to him. Whenever he and Julia moved cities, he immediately searched for a nearby Lutheran Church where they joined the choir. He taught Sunday School for both high school and adults at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoyed all related bible studies and church festivities.
Later in life, he loved playing golf with the Brecksville Men's Golf League and looked forward to the camaraderie, breakfasts, banter, and banquets. When he wasn't singing or golfing, Patrick loved working jigsaw puzzles and had 100 puzzles glued together and hanging on his basement walls!
