Margaret "Marge" Putka (nee Baran), age 90, born May 11, 1930, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020. Today the angels smile and celebrate with her in Heaven. Throughout her life Marge had a passion for giving and living, laughing, dancing with friends and family and was a stranger to no one. Marge’s greatest passions were her family, sewing, dancing and singing.
Marge graduated from Lincoln High School where she sang in Choral Club, Small Ensemble and the Solo Contest where she won first prize. She was a member of the Council on World Affairs, The Lincolnettes, Student Council and Girls’ Glee Club.
After high school, Marge worked at National City Bank until retirement at which time she moved to Florida. She was an active member of numerous organizations throughout her life including Blood Drive, Neighborhood Watch, Veterans Hospital Volunteer, Brecksville Women’s Group, Order of the Eastern Star, the Silver Songbirds Choir and various church choirs. Marge was also awarded Patriot of the Year for helping hospitalized veterans.
She was married to Roy A. Gladys and loving mother of Ruth Plautz and Carol Herzing (Dave Dobos); devoted grandmother of Brian Plautz (Elizabeth), Jeffrey Plautz (Dana), Chad Herzing, Alyse Caraballo (Elias), step-grandmother of Amanda Guentzler (Dave) and great grandmother of Joshua, Claire, Hank, Zoey, Sydney, Benjamin and Emily. Her laughter and smiles are never more than a thought away. The memories we have of her will live with us forever. We hold her close within our hearts, and there she will remain. We love her and miss her.
Private graveside service was held, with interment at Brecksville Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place once the current situation changes and allows for people to gather to celebrate Marge’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in her name to Western Reserve Masonic Community, 4931 Nettleton Road, Medina, Ohio 44256.
Marge’s walk in life was of kindness. She gave unconditional love to those around her and her Faith touched so many souls. We lost a light in this world. The family requests that you laugh, sing and dance and "Be Kind" to one another in her memory.
The family was also blessed by acts of kindness and care shown by so many individuals and organizations during her journey.
