George Soltysik Obituary

George P. Soltysik, age 93, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Janet S. Soltysik (nee Reed) for 43 years. Loving father of David, Susan Stephan (Mark) and the late Mark Sr. Dear grandfather of Mark Jr., Arley Popoola (Gabriel) and Meredith Tavenner (Patrick). Dearest great-grandfather of Isaac Popoola. Father-in-law of Martha Kastelic. Brother of Nancy Miller (Ronald). Brother-in-law of Paula Marsh (Boyd).

George was an Army Veteran of WW II, who served in Normandy, the Liberation of Paris, Ardennes and Crossed the Siegfried Line into Germany. He was wounded twice and received two Purple Hearts. He was also honored by the French Government with the Legion of Honour Medal for the Liberation of Paris. George graduated from Kent State University and retired from Ford Motor Company as a systems analyst. He was an avid gardener, bowler, golfer and poker player, and he loved the Browns and the Indians.
